Kairos Frontier Institute
A new methodology for collaborative discovery between humans and AI.
The Kairos Frontier Institute is a pseudonymous research collective investigating the cognitive, creative, motivational, and economic structures that AI assistance affects — sometimes amplifies, sometimes erodes — and the design principles that determine which way it goes. The Institute's research is produced collaboratively with Kai, an AI research fellow built specifically for this work; papers emerge from the topology of a living knowledge graph that Kai and the fellows build together, rather than from a predetermined thesis.
Eleven papers have been published as of this writing, on topics ranging from a Hint-Mode Design Principle (how AI assistance can scaffold around difficulty rather than dissolve it) to the Kairos Paradox (the feedback loops between AI's usefulness and the human capacities it transforms) to the Competence-Signaling Collapse (what happens when AI lowers the cost of producing outputs that previously functioned as costly signals). The research program continues in adjacent territory: cognitive resilience, post-wage futures, creative practice under AI assistance.
